COVID measures in the EU

Due to the rising corona figures, several countries are taking extra measures to limit the spread of the virus. Below is an overview:

Update 14/02/2021:

GERMANY
Neighboring countries as virus variant areas
Since Sunday, February 14, the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic and part of Austria (Tyrol province with the exception of the political district of Lienz, the municipality of Jungholz and the Rißtal in the municipal area of Vomp and Eben am Achensee) have been declared according to the German CoronaEinreiseVO virus variant regions.
As a result, and from this date, truck drivers entering Germany who have resided or traveled through one or more of the above countries for the past 10 days must also respect the following measures:

  • register,
  • have a negative COVID-19 test (max. 48 hours old, PCR test and some rapid tests accepted). Click here for more information.

CZECH REPUBLIC
Negative Covid Test – Germany

In response to the German measures, the Czech Republic is demanding a negative COVID-19 test from truck drivers transiting through the Czech Republic to Germany. The negative Covid-19 test must not be older than 36 hours. Both PCR tests and rapid antigen tests are accepted, provided they are performed by an approved laboratory. The Czech Republic will introduce random border checks to verify compliance with this measure. The negative test can also be requested at roadside checks in the interior.

AUSTRIA
Negative Covid Test – Germany

In response to the German measures, Austria is introducing border controls to check the negative covid tests. The checks for freight traffic would take place at the Brenner Pass. This will probably be confirmed sometime in the course of today. Although this has not yet been officially confirmed, it is believed that access for freight and transit in Austria will only be allowed if it can be guaranteed that the driver will also be allowed back into Germany. With the Brenner pass it will be checked whether drivers have negative test results, otherwise access will be refused. Test possibilities along the Austrian motorway network are not possible due to the capacity reasons of the test stations but also because of parking areas.

SLOVAKIA
Negative Covid Test – Germany

It is not yet clear how Slovakia will respond to the German measures.
